It is amazing to think that we will soon be closing the chapter on another year of learning and growing at Lowrie Primary School. I am so thankful to all of you for your tremendous support, kindness and care for our school community. Thank you also for sharing your incredible children with us each and every day!
Soon our outstanding 5th grade group will be leaving us. This group’s leadership and contributions over their time at Lowrie has been remarkable. As with all 5th grade groups, it is hard to say good-bye, but we also know that we have all done a wonderful job preparing them for the next chapter of their lives. We recently held our Kindergarten Open House and welcomed a new group of curious and eager Lowrie students. It was wonderful to feel their energy and excitement for all the possibilities school has to offer.
This all makes me think of the cycle of growth each child shows over the year. When we think about what we want for our children here at Lowrie, we want them to carry forward an eagerness for what is possible with sense of curious exploration that the new kindergarteners show and the purposeful, thoughtful learning our 5th graders take with them to middle school. It has been an incredible year in so many different ways and as we launch our 5th graders and welcome new kindergarteners, we do this together with a strong sense of purpose and community.
As we look toward the end of the year, here are some key dates to put on your calendars:
June 8 – Field Day – This is a time for children to come to collaborate and team together in a spirit of fun and good cheer.
June 10 – 5th grade recognition celebration – This celebration will take place on the morning, which is the last day of school. At this event, the three 5th grades, their teachers and parents will gather in the gym for breakfast. There will be a short recognition ceremony to recognize each class and their achievements. This will also be a time for the 5th graders to spend some quality time together as a class and to sign yearbooks. There will also be a slide show of the year that highlights all that this group has done over the year.
June 10 – Dismissal at 10:45
As always, thank you to each member of our school community for all you do each day for children, staff and the school.
and if you have a child who is affected by these signs of beauty...are they wheezing, congested, do they have swollen eyes, or a runny nose?...we want to remind you that across the district, we are seeing an increase number of students coming to the health room with these symptoms. Only with your help, can we minimize these bothersome symptoms and keep them on pace for learning. Please contact your health care provider for strategies that are right for your child.
Sneezy, Wheezy and Breezy
I hope that this email finds you well. I look forward to seeing all the children this morning and to hear their stories of break. It will be so nice to have their cheerful and laughing voices fill the halls!
As we enter springtime, I want to encourage you to consider making a donation to this year's "Count Me In" campaign for the West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation. This campaign raises money to fund additional teachers in our district which helps to maintain effective class sizes and foster continued excellence in our school district. The West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation is a non-profit organization staffed with parent volunteers that has been in place for over 20 years and their only mission each year is to raise funds in support of our school.
The Foundation's goal this year is to raise enough money to hire 3 additional teachers. To accomplish this and based on our enrollment, Lowrie has been assigned a specific school goal to raise $7,000. I am confident that we will be able to do this.
To make your donation, please click on the link below to go to the West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation website - http://www.wlwvfoundation.org. There you will find information on the important work of the Foundation and a DONATE button to make your donation. Remember to "tag" Lowrie as your school affiliation so we can reach our goal for this year!
