email

Dear Families,

“How do we create and nurture a community that promotes social and academic excellence for every child every day?” is a vision question that we have developed over the past year that sums up our work and beliefs in a powerful way. As we approach our planning, learning opportunities and interventions, we use this vision as a guide. For us, the power of thinking about what each child needs each day to feel successful, connected and to bring their best selves to their learning is central to our work.

As I mentioned back in a newsletter in February, that critical to our vision of every child every day, is helping children navigate friendships and conflicts in such a way that they can learn and grow from their experiences is incredibly important. One of the many things I love about the Lowrie community is our tremendous diversity and the great strength it brings us. We work diligently with all children to recognize the strength of our diversity and to come to know, value and respect their peers for who they are, regardless of color, age or ability. While this can be challenging at times, it is rewarding and gives us all great hope for our children and the world in which they live.

The partnership we have with families is an important aspect of this vision as well. I am appreciative of the relationships between home and school. It helps us to learn and to strengthen our learning community. I have been spending our Friday morning meetings talking with the kids about taking care of others, about making each day an opportunity to choose “awesomeness” and hopefully empowering them to bring their best selves to every thing they do. We have been watching videos from Kid President that are meant to inspire and create opportunities for discussion at school and beyond. Here is the link to one of his messages:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-gQLqv9f4o

When I look around our school, I see, to quote Kid President, “a whole lot of awesomeness.” I also know that we need continue to work together every day to be the learning community that truly nurtures social and academic excellence for every child every day. Thank you for being such important partners in this work. Thank you for your time in classrooms, at school events, your feedback and support. Together we will only deepen the bonds that hold us together and the learning experiences for all.

With appreciation,
Patrick

Allergies    Spring means.....

flower buds and blooming trees!!!

and if you have a child who is affected by these signs of beauty...are they wheezing, congested, do they have swollen eyes, or a runny nose?...we want to remind you that across the district, we are seeing an increase number of students coming to the health room with these symptoms. Only with your help, can we minimize these bothersome symptoms and keep them on pace for learning. Please contact your health care provider for strategies that are right for your child.

 COUNT ME IN!

Dear Families,

I hope that this email finds you well. I look forward to seeing all the children this morning and to hear their stories of break. It will be so nice to have their cheerful and laughing voices fill the halls!

As we enter springtime, I want to encourage you to consider making a donation to this year's "Count Me In" campaign for the West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation. This campaign raises money to fund additional teachers in our district which helps to maintain effective class sizes and foster continued excellence in our school district. The West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation is a non-profit organization staffed with parent volunteers that has been in place for over 20 years and their only mission each year is to raise funds in support of our school.

The Foundation's goal this year is to raise enough money to hire 3 additional teachers. To accomplish this and based on our enrollment, Lowrie has been assigned a specific school goal to raise $7,000. I am confident that we will be able to do this.

To make your donation, please click on the link below to go to the West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation website - http://www.wlwvfoundation.org. There you will find information on the important work of the Foundation and a DONATE button to make your donation. Remember to "tag" Lowrie as your school affiliation so we can reach our goal for this year!

With gratitude,

Patrick

Pick-up, Drop off and Parking Information

circ

• We welcome parents to drop off their children in the gym in

the morning or to meet them after school each day.

• It is important to be mindful of families walking to their cars –

please drive slowly in the parking lot.

• If you are coming into the school, to please park in the

parking lot. I realize that parking is tight, but if you would like to

pick up your child by the buses, we ask that you park in the

parking lot.

• Please only use the handicap slots if you have a handicap

parking permit.

• The curbside is meant just for dropping off and picking up

only. It is very important that drivers remain at the wheel

while waiting for you child. I know that it can get busy,

especially during dismissal, but our goal is to keep the curbside

flowing as much as possible.

• Parents parking in the parking lot and not along the curb in

will certainly help with overall flow within the parking lot.

• Parents are certainly welcome to drop-off and pick-up their

children out by the entry plaza in the back of the school. This

can be a more efficient and quick way to collect your child

at the end of the day.
